Director of a company about to be struck off? Its internal data may still have value — see the data of a company about to be struck off. Or a dated record report.
What this is
Before a UK company is removed from the register, Companies House marks it “Active - Proposal to Strike off”. This site keeps the companies in that state that last filed audited or group-subsidiary accounts, made up to a date in 2019 or later — businesses of some size that were recently active. Each record gives the last accounts, the activity, the registered office and the previous names.
Who uses it
- Creditors and suppliers — is this company about to disappear? An objection must reach Companies House before it does.
- Former employees and customers — find a company by a name it used before.
- Directors and group secretaries — see the data of a company about to be struck off.
- In liquidation or administration instead? — see larger UK companies in insolvency.
What it is not
Not Companies House, not The Gazette, and not a certificate. A proposal to strike off is not a dissolution: it can be withdrawn or objected to, and many are. The size test is the type of accounts last filed, not a headcount; many companies here are dormant group subsidiaries. The status is the one on the monthly register file: check Companies House for today's.
